Cult BMX History

Who started Cult BMX?

Cult was started in 2010 by Robbie Morales in Santa Ana, California. Robbie had a lengthy riding career both as a racer and freestyler as well as hands on business experience from starting Fit Bike Co with Chris Moeller (S&M Bikes founder) back in 2000. Robbie has an illustrious riding career from becoming a AA Pro class racer to his mastery of the dirt jumps which earned him the nickname “Trail Boss”. Robbie went on to excel at street riding and appeared on numerous magazine covers and in video parts.

Which riders left Fit Bike Co to ride for Cult BMX?

When Robbie left Fit Bike Co back in 2009 a number of their top BMX Pro riders left with him to ride for Cult BMX, these included Chase Hawk, Dakota Roche, Chase Dehart and Alex Kennedy.

What were the first BMX frames that Cult BMX made?

The brand originally started out getting frames manufactured in the USA from Solid Bikes and FBM Bikes which were called the Deathrow and the Bad Boy. Cult then went on to make CNC sprockets and stems and before long were offering a full range of BMX parts.

Which Dvds has Cult BMX released?

In 2011 Cult released their first DVD “Let ‘em talk” which help the brand gain worldwide recognition and grow from strength to strength. Cult went on to release “Talk is cheap” DVD at the end of 2012 and their Am video “Small Talk” in 2014 and “It’s Later Than You Think” in 2018.

What makes the Cult Juvi bikes so popular?

Cult was the first brand to popularise the use of aluminium BMX frames for younger riders in their Juvi range of complete bikes aimed at riders from 3 years old and upwards. These aluminium made frames were lighter so made BMX riding easier and hence riders progressed and learnt tricks faster. Today Cult offers a full range of BMX bikes from 12” Juvi bikes all the way up to 26” and 29” Devotion bikes.

What collab products does Cult make with Vans shoes?

Cult partnered with Vans shoes in 2011 to make the Cult Waffle grip, the design of this grip was based on the famous Vans waffle sole pattern to create one of the most popular grips in BMX. The grips are made by ODI in the USA using their proven rubber compound to make the grip both comfortable and long lasting.

In 2014 Cult worked with Vans again to create the Cult x Vans tyre, this went on to be a huge success and is ridden by many of the world’s top BMX riders. In 2023 Cult added to this successful collaboration by introducing the Cult x Vans Wafflecup tyre which is sure to gain a huge following.
